Great Portraitists and Their Methods

In this lecture, nationally known artist Adrian Martinez analyzes six great portraits and the artists who painted them. Using copies he made of each portrait, Martinez explores the means and methods of classical painting and discusses the techniques of each artist step by step. All six portraits are seen (slide show or PowerPoint format) in several stages of development that reveal the use of colored ground, varnishes and paint layers. As Martinez compares and contrasts the style of each artist, those in attendance also get a new look into art history and the evolution of artistic movements.
