This
Quaker springhouse was built by J. Taylor in 1738 and sits along Parke
Run in Downingtown, a stones throw from Downingtown Friends Meeting.
The enormous, ancient sycamore tree is now gone. The artist has used a
stylistic convention of the French 19th century Barbizon school, a peasant girl wearing a red scarf, as a color note but most
importantly to give a sense of scale. |
